A lot of things changed during the Summer of 2006...
- Nearly all the servers were completely updated, including faster
hardware for the two primary servers, Grendel and Ozark.
- In the process, we have invalidated all of the old passwords. Stop
by the office of Dr. Burch or Dr. Ferrer to get a new password.
- All of the computers in the Advanced Computing Laboratory in
MCRey 316 were replaced with new ones.
- Two additional new computers were added to the Advanced Computing
Laboratory, bringing it to its full capacity of 14 computers.
- We switched Linux distributions, to CentOS 4.3, with a more
carefully customized laboratory environment than before.
- The wireless network was expanded to cover the whole floor,
and the capacity was lifted to 20 simultaneous computers.
- We initiated daily archival of home directories, allowing students
to view previous versions of their files.
- A new Hendrix Linux Web site is introduced, with information
about doing things with the Linux network:
ozark.hendrix.edu/linux.
