For this non-tenure-track postion, an M.S. in computer science or a
related discipline is required; a Ph.D. is preferred. Candidates from
all specialties in computer science are welcome. Responsibilities
include teaching courses at all levels of the curriculum and directing
undergraduate research.
Applications should include a letter of application addressing the
applicant's teaching and scholarship goals, vita, all undergraduate and
graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Ideally,

Evaluations of the applications will be evaluated as they are
received and will continue until the position is filled.
The annual teaching schedule for the two-year position will be five
courses per academic year, with no summer teaching responsibilities.
As with all Hendrix computer science faculty, each year typically
includes two or three introductory courses, an intermediate
sophomore-level course, and one or two upper-level elective courses.
We will strive to ensure that the upper-level electives match with
faculty member's scholarly interests. A typical introductory course
has 15 to 20 students, while a typical advanced course has 8 to
15 students.
In addition to the regular course load, the successful candidate
will be available to serve as advisor for student research projects.
The major requires the completion of a senior thesis and presentation,
whose topic varies according to student and advisor interests.
Examples of some recent projects include composing music automatically,
detecting human presence using a webcam, and tracking a mobile
robot's location using dead reckoning. A full list is at http://ozark.hendrix.edu/theses/.
