The annual teaching schedule for the two-year position will be five courses per academic year, with no summer teaching responsibilities. As with all Hendrix computer science faculty, each year typically includes two or three introductory courses, an intermediate sophomore-level course, and one or two upper-level elective courses. We will strive to ensure that the upper-level electives match with faculty member's scholarly interests. A typical introductory course has 15 to 20 students, while a typical advanced course has 8 to 15 students.

In addition to the regular course load, the successful candidate will be available to serve as advisor for student research projects. The major requires the completion of a senior thesis and presentation, whose topic varies according to student and advisor interests. Examples of some recent projects include composing music automatically, detecting human presence using a webcam, and tracking a mobile robot's location using dead reckoning.
