Over the course of the last few months representatives from several offices across campus have met to discuss our current web site and our overall web presence. Two of these meetings were facilitated by an outside consultant. The consensus following these meetings was that it is time, at a minimum, to ?refresh? of our current website and home page. In addition, our conversations have led us to reexamine numerous issues regarding the functionality and navigability of our current site, the pros/cons of internet and intranet depending on our audience/constituent, the role of the ?portal? to serve our various constituents, and ways in which we might create a more dynamic and engaging presence with social media and other emerging opportunities.

To assist in the analysis of these various issues a Strategic Web Review Team was appointed last month. Karen Foust and I are pleased to be working with Pamela Owen, Laura Martin, Sam Nichols, Helen Plotkin, David Sutherland and Jim Wiltgen on this team. The focus of our group will be strategic in nature and our goal is to provide general direction as we work to strengthen and enhance our web site and web presence. Pamela Owen is serving as chair of our working group. In addition, Pamela?s area (Alumni and Constituent Relations) has been redefined as Alumni and Constituent Engagement and her overall responsibilities for the college have been expanded to include responsibility for coordinating the planning process for web redesign and ongoing web enhancements; providing oversight to ensure that the college?s strategic messaging on the web is current and accurate; and evaluating for implementation new forms of social media and other emerging opportunities to more fully engage our constituents.

The Strategic Review Team will continue to meet every two weeks throughout the Fall and they look forward to providing future updates of their work. In the meantime, thank you for all you are doing for our students and all you have done to help the college get off to a great start of the new year!

Best regards - Ellis
