It is my pleasure to announce that W. Ellis Arnold III will join the Hendrix Senior Staff in August as Executive Vice President and Dean of Institutional Advancement. Ellis, a 1979 graduate of Hendrix, is a familiar name to many of you. He served as Vice President of Development and General Counsel at Hendrix from 1990 to 1996. He left Hendrix to become president of Lambuth University, in Jackson, Tenn., a liberal arts college related to the United Methodist Church. Since June 2004, he has been President and Head of School at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock.

We are pleased to welcome Ellis back to the Hendrix community. He knows who we are and understands why what we do here matters. I know that we will quickly begin to feel the impact of his work.

Over the past seven years, Dr. Rock Jones has built an outstanding team in the Advancement division. As he leaves Hendrix to become president of Ohio Wesleyan University, I am confident that Ellis Arnold is the right person to lead this team to the end of The Hendrix Campaign and, as a critical part of the leadership team setting the strategic direction for the College beyond the campaign, to cement the College?s position as a national leader in engaged liberal arts and sciences education.

Both Ellis and I will continue to benefit from the expertise of Larry Woodard, a seasoned and respected fund-raiser who has been part of our Advancement team since late fall. As Senior Counsel to the President for Principal Gifts, Larry will be out among our constituents working to raise the funds that make our world-class academic programs possible.

Please join me in welcoming Ellis Arnold back to campus when he joins the staff full-time in mid-August.

A news release with more details will be posted on the Hendrix Web site by mid-morning.
