The Hendrix Board of Trustees met on Friday, May 7, 2010. It was a positive and productive meeting and it is my pleasure to share with you the following summary:

The Board received updates on the College?s new student enrollment for next fall, the status of the $100 million capital campaign, the College?s endowment performance, and the progress with the Village at Hendrix development. The Trustees also discussed facility issues relative to the Mabee Center, Hulen Hall, and Buhler Hall. The Mabee Center will remain open until the end of April 2011 and Hulen and Buhler will remain closed during the 2010-11 academic year. Over the course of the next six months the College will develop options for facilities to support tennis and will determine the highest and best use for Hulen and Buhler. The Senior Staff will provide recommended options for tennis, Hulen and Buhler at the October 2010 Board meeting. In addition, the Board received a report from the Art & Science Group regarding their research and their ongoing work with the college?s faculty.

The Trustees took action on the following items:

* Approved the preliminary operating budget for 2010-11. This budget includes a modest salary pool for continuing faculty and staff.
