Dear Colleagues:

Thanks greatly for your interest and support! Attached is a revised version of the program for our International Colloquium of the Meta-Analysis of Economics Research Network. Please come to any of our sessions, and encourage your students to attend?especially Prof Doucouliagos? public lecture, ?International Transfers and Economic Growth? (Sept 30, 7:30; Mills Center, Room A, Hendrix campus). Chris is an excellent speaker who is able to cut through the technical and statistical issues to get to a deep understanding of the fundamental failures of international aid. His Hendrix lecture four year?s ago was very well received by both students and faculty. See,

Subject: NCUR 2011 Deadlines

Hi everyone,

Each year Hendrix sends students to the National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR), a professional meeting where students can present their own research in a professional and supportive atmosphere. The purpose of NCUR is to encourage awareness of undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative opportunities as they exist in various disciplines and types of institutions. This year NCUR will be held March 31st ? April 2nd at Ithaca College in New York. The deadline for online abstract submission is November 19th at 5:00 p.m.

Like last year, Odyssey offers guaranteed travel money (up to $1000) for students whose research has been approved for UR credit. Therefore, all NCUR research needs to be approved for Odyssey credit. Students who have already received their guaranteed travel money will need to therefore apply for Odyssey funding from the competitive pool of non-guaranteed money?the deadline for those students is October 1st. Students who have not yet received their guaranteed funding, however, will not need to apply for their guaranteed funding until November 19th.

If you have students who are interested in presenting a 15-minute oral presentation, a poster, or a visual or performing arts presentation, please let them know about NCUR. I will also run ads in Hendrix Today until the deadline for submission. Please note that the submission process requires that each student identify their Undergraduate Research Coordinator (that?s me) and their Faculty Advisor (that?s you). Students are expected to work closely with their faculty advisor in preparing their abstracts and preparing and practicing their presentation. By signing on as a student?s faculty advisor, you?re agreeing to work with the student to help ensure that they give a quality presentation.

I serve as the Hendrix NCUR faculty coordinator. Odyssey will cover most of the costs and I will arrange travel for students who

1) are listed as first author on an accepted submission

2) list me, Jennifer Penner, as their Undergraduate Research Coordinator on their submission form

3) practice their presentation before they attend NCUR (this can be done as a group or individually)

4) are presenting research that has been approved for UR Odyssey credit.

Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or visit the website at http://www.ncur.org <http://www.ncur.org/> . I have been emailing students since the beginning of the semester, so they should all be aware of the upcoming deadlines.

Thanks,

Jenn
