Dear Colleagues,

As many of you are aware, the College recently retained the Art & Science Group, whose previous study provided the impetus for the development of the Odyssey Program, to do a follow up study on Positioning, Pricing, and Retention. David Strauss and Susan May presented their findings to the campus in January. In its February meeting, the Board of Trustees authorized the administration, faculty, and staff to begin working on responses to their recommendations.

Four recommendations in particular fall clearly within the purview of the faculty, and the Council on Academic Policy has decided to devote a substantial portion of the Fall Faculty Conference (August 18) to a discussion of these recommendations. In anticipation of that discussion, I am attaching a document that lists and explains the various recommendations. The Council on Academic Policy asks that you review the list, identify one area of special interest to you, and begin to think about ideas to bring to a breakout session devoted to that area.

Thanks for your attention to this important matter at what I know is a very busy time for us all.
