CSCI 320 - Operating Systems & Concurrency

Spring 2019

Each Redox presentation involves the following:

A group of two or three people will jointly create and deliver the presentation.
Each group will be assigned functions to present from Redox source files.
For each function to be presented:
- What is the function's role in the operating system?
- Under what circumstances will the function be called?
- What data structures does the function read/write?
- What is the impact of reading and writing those data structures?
- To the extent not already answered, what algorithms are implemented by the function?
- What improvements might be made to the function?
- If an unsafe block is used, why?
If some aspect of the code is incomprehensible, feel free to discuss it with the instructor prior to the presentation, or to bring it up as a point for discussion during the presentation.
It will not usually suffice to examine code exclusively from the assigned files. It is expected that code outside those files will be examined and included as needed in each presentation.
Each presentation should last the full class period, but allow time for plenty of questions and discussion. 30-35 minutes of prepared material should suffice.
